In this guide, we explain how refrigerated cargo, or Reefer transportation, works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is a Reefer Container?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Reefer (refrigerated) container is a container equipped with its own refrigeration system that maintains a controlled and consistent temperature inside. It is connected to a power source on the vessel, at the port, or on the truck to preserve the cargo throughout the entire <a href=\"https:\/\/alltranscargogroup.com\/en\/maritimo\/\">ocean freight<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/alltranscargogroup.com\/en\/terrestre\/\">ground<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What Products Require Refrigerated Transportation?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perishable food: fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and dairy products.<\/li>\n<li>Flowers and plants.<\/li>\n<li>Pharmaceutical products and vaccines.<\/li>\n<li>Chemicals and other temperature sensitive products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Temperature and the Cold Chain<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each product has an optimal temperature range: frozen goods are transported well below 0\u00b0C, while fruits and flowers require refrigerated temperatures above 0\u00b0C.
